LEJOG 2012 – Preparation

OK – we’ve now started preparing for LEJOG. Since it’s the “Hippy Mini Run”, the car needs to be decorated with flowers and similar, along with the fabulous door plaques.

In addition, we’ve been sourcing costumes for ourselves. Though we don’t need to look the part all week, we need to be hippy’d for Lands End and John o’Groats. Yudit’s found a great flowery floaty top. And for me – there’s a battered old pair of jeans that’s just asking to be flared, with some really wild rainbow coloured material.

Gravy Booby!

LEJOG 2012

In just over two weeks I’ll be driving from Land’s End to John o’Groats for Children’s Hospice South West because I think they provide a valuable service.

LEJOG is a 5-day event, organised by the North Devon Mini Register. It is the first of the NDMR major fund raising events and each of the minis does a round trip of about 2000 miles.

Using mainly A & B roads with 2 short sections of motorway we’ll be crossing some of the country’s best countryside. We leave Barnstaple on Monday and are in John O’Groats by Friday lunch time. We’ll do about 250 miles a day between camp sites and stop every morning at a supermarket for breakfast. The event is not a race or a rally, it is just a small group of mini nuts doing what they enjoy most; driving their minis and knowing that they can help raise a great deal of money makes it even more fun.

For more details, see the NDMR website.
