Day Two start

Start of day two

We had a dry night, so I thought ‘great, we can pack the tent dry’. And then the rain starts (at 5:30am). Fortunately the support van has lots of space (and now much dripping tentage).

About to head out on the road – two or so hours until Morrisons and therefore breakfast.

Day One report

Monday

Bideford to Lands End to Bideford – 218 miles – approx 7.5 hours.

We now have the official Lands End to John o’Groats Club form – get it stamped at the start, end and at least six places in between and we can get a certificate to prove the journey.

Apparently its normal to shout ‘tractor’ over the CB when we pass one 🙂

The weather improved just as we got back to the campsite – hopefully it will remain so (need to think those positive waves man).

Had a relaxing time at the pictures (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). Now heading back to the campsite via supper.

Tomorrow is the longest day of the trip and the first early start.

More upon the morrow.

Lands End

We’re at Lands End. No breakdowns so far.

The weather was being kind – but at the moment its bucketing down 🙁

And we’re off

In 10 minutes we depart from Morrisons in Bideford for the first leg of lejog 2012 proper – here to Lands End.

(Sorry about the lack of photos so far – technical issues which I’ll resolve when I can get WiFi rather than GPRS.) our

We are not a number

So we are number 7 of 15. But there is no 13.

Survived the first night

That was an interesting night. At least we now know our tent can stand up to high winds (gusting to 70+ mph I believe).

First of many Morrisons breakfasts for the week and then off to Little Bridge House.

Arrived at first base camp

We’ve safely arrived at the Steart Farm campsite, home until early o’clock in Tuesday.

Tent up in the rain.

Tomorrow we go to Little Bridge House (Children’s Hospice SW) to see where the money raised last year has been used.

Photos to follow later.

Approx 198 miles so far.

And we’re off…

Just a brief update for now … Today we finish packing the car and head
down to Devon for the start of LEJOG 2012. Hopefully the weather
forecast will be wrong and it won’t be exceedingly soggy.

Further preparation for LEJOG 2012

More “hippification” of the mini ready for a week’s time:

Also, since a few people have vaguely commented – the phrase “Gravy Booby!” is a spoonerism of “Groovy Baby!”. An ex-colleague of mine used to say it not infrequently – and my puerile sense of humour finds it amusing 🙂
